Maeve Dunigan is a writer originally from Baltimore, MD, now based in Brooklyn, NY. Her debut satire and essay collection, Read This To Look Cool, is out May 12, 2026 from Sourcebooks.
She is a regular contributor to The New Yorker. Her work has also appeared in McSweeney's Internet Tendency, Reductress, Mountain Gazette, Mic, and on NPR’s Selected Shorts. Additionally, she’s a staff writer at Vox Media, where she covers pets and wildlife for The Dodo.
Maeve co-hosts Some Fun Lines, a monthly open mic and quarterly show dedicated to prose humor. She’s half of the musical sketch duo Pigeon, of Pigeon Presents, a comedy variety show that’s been featured in TimeOut New York.
Maeve would love to be a beekeeper one day, but she doesn’t have the space for it right now.
